EXPLORE IN THIS SECTION: Understanding Youth, Peace, and Security

Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) is a United Nations framework recognising the crucial role of young people

in preventing conflict, promoting peace, and contributing to sustainable development. By engaging youth in decision-making processes and peacebuilding initiatives, the YPS agenda empowers the next generation to address the challenges of today and tomorrow.

At UN Students Norway, we have recently incorporated YPS into our political platform to reflect our commitment to amplifying youth voices, fostering active participation, and supporting inclusive solutions to global conflicts and societal challenges. Through educational programmes, discussions, and advocacy, we equip students with the knowledge and tools to contribute meaningfully to peace and security at both local and international levels.

Youth and governments alike should care because young people are not only the inheritors of tomorrow’s challenges but also essential agents of change today. Meaningful engagement with youth strengthens democratic participation, promotes sustainable development, and builds societies that are more resilient, equitable, and peaceful.
