NIMUN 2026
16th-18th of April 2026Oslo, NorwayWelcome to NIMUN!
Welcome to the Norwegian International Model United Nations (NIMUN), a student-led simulation of the United Nations organised by the United Nations Student Association of Norway. NIMUN brings together students interested in international affairs to debate global challenges and experience diplomacy in practice.Debate, Diplomacy, Excellence
At NIMUN, participants step into the role of diplomats representing United Nation´s member states. Through formal debate, negotiations, and the drafting of resolutions, delegates engage with complex international issues while working to build consensus among diverse national interests. Participants are encouraged to analyse global challenges from the perspective of their assigned country, balancing national priorities with the broader objectives of international cooperation.
Throughout the conference, delegates take part in structured sessions designed to mirror the procedures of the United Nations, including moderated debates, informal negotiations, and collaborative drafting of policy proposals. The simulation offers a dynamic environment where participants strengthen skills in diplomacy, critical thinking, public speaking, and multilateral negotiation while gaining a deeper understanding of how international institutions function in practice.
This Year´s Conference
The 2026 edition of the Norwegian International Model United Nations invites participants to explore the theme “Diplomacy in an Age of Uncertainty.” In a period marked by geopolitical tensions, protracted conflicts, and shifting international alliances, the conference challenges delegates to examine how multilateral diplomacy can respond to complex and evolving global crises. NIMUN 2026 will simulate the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the principal deliberative body of the United Nations where all member states gather to debate global challenges and propose collective responses.Delegates will represent UN member states and work through formal debate, moderated and unmoderated caucuses, and the drafting of resolutions to address contemporary questions of international peace, security, and humanitarian cooperation. The simulation encourages participants to balance national perspectives with the broader goal of multilateral consensus. Academic Resources
To support delegates in preparing for the conference, a selection of academic resources is provided below, including guidelines for position papers and the Rules of Procedure. These materials are intended to help participants understand the structure of the simulation and prepare effectively for debate and negotiations. Additional resources and updates may be added as the conference approaches, so delegates are encouraged to check this page regularly for the latest information.Scheduale
The conference will take place at Håndverkeren Oslo Konferanse & Selskapslokaler in central Oslo (Rosenkrantz’ gate 7).
