Celebrate UN day with the UN Students of Norway 🇺🇳

Every year on the 24th of October, the world marks United Nations Day, celebrating the anniversary of the UN Charter coming into force. It is a day to reflect on the principles of peace, development, and human rights, and to recognise the vital work still being done.

This year, UN Students Norway is proud to mark this important occasion with a series of events across our local chapters, each offering a unique way to engage with the UN's mission. From insightful panels to lively cultural celebrations, there is something for everyone. We invite all our members and interested students to join us in celebrating global cooperation.

Here is a rundown of what our chapters have planned:

Bergen: A Global Celebration

  • What: A celebration of various UN member states, featuring presentations by students about their nations, discussions on the impact of the UN, and a themed quiz.

Oslo: Details Forthcoming

  • What: Local meeting diving into international law with guest speaker UiO Professor Jo Martin Stigen.

Agder: Insights from Experts

  • What: A lecture and panel conversation featuring guest speakers Ellen Jenny Torgersen Ravndal and Kai Eide.

  • When: 24th October, 12:15 - 14:00

  • Where: Room B1 006, University of Agder

Lillehammer: An Evening of Diplomacy

  • What: A celebration at Studenten, featuring a seminar on the UN and its structure, a quiz, and a mini Model United Nations (miniMUM) session.

  • Where: Studenten, Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences

Tromsø: Focusing on the Climate Crisis

  • What: An interactive workshop to explore the role the UN can play in solving the climate crisis.
