Fatoumata Kanyi

During her time with UN Students Norway, Fatoumata found both purpose and community. As a Project Team Member and later Vice President of the Trondheim chapter, she helped foster an inclusive environment that made student life more meaningful. With a master’s in Global Health and a background in nursing, she continues to seek ways to connect her passion for health, equality, and global engagement. Her journey reflects how confidence, connection, and courage can grow through active participation.

Who are you and during which years were you active in UN Students?


“Hello! My name is Fatoumata, and I completed a Master´s in Global Health at NTNU, graduating in 2025. I was part of the UN Students in Norway (UNSAN) from 2023 to 2025, first as a Project Team Member and later as Vice President for the Trondheim chapter.”

What are you doing professionally now?

“Currently, I´m working as a nurse while looking for opportunities in the field I studied.

Looking back what is your fondest or most memorable moment from your time with UN Students Norway?


My most memorable part of being in UNSAN is definitely the people I met and the relationships I built. It was such a big part of my student life in Trondheim, it made my time there both meaningful and fun.”

How did your experience with UNSAN influence your career path or personal development?


“Through UNSAN, I grew a lot personally and professionally. I became more confident in public speaking, got better at meeting new people, and learned how to build strong relationships.”

Based on your journey, what advice would you give to current students and young adults in UNSAN?


“If I were to give one piece of advice, it would be to say yes to opportunities, even if you feel nervous or unsure. UNSAN is an amazing space to learn, grow, and discover new possibilities.”
