The Norwegian International Model United Nations (NIMUN) 2026, organised by the United Nations Student Association of Norway (UNSA Norway), invites students and young people to participate in a three-day simulation of the United Nations General Assembly.
Model United Nations (MUN) is an internationally recognised academic simulation in which participants represent UN Member States and engage in debates on global challenges. Through formal speeches, negotiations, and the drafting of resolutions, delegates experience the dynamics of international diplomacy and multilateral cooperation.
Theme: Diplomacy in an Age of Uncertainty
The international system is currently facing a period marked by geopolitical tension, humanitarian crises, and growing uncertainty about the future of international cooperation. In this context, diplomacy remains a crucial mechanism through which states seek to manage conflict, negotiate solutions, and maintain dialogue.
Under the theme “Diplomacy in an Age of Uncertainty,” NIMUN 2026 will explore the challenges and possibilities of multilateral diplomacy in an increasingly fragmented international landscape. Delegates will debate questions related to peace, security, and humanitarian crises, examining the role of international cooperation in responding to complex global challenges.
Conference Structure
During the conference, participants will take part in a simulation of the United Nations General Assembly, the principal deliberative body of the United Nations where all Member States are represented.
Delegates will represent countries and engage in structured debate through:
Opening speeches and diplomatic positioning
Moderated and unmoderated caucuses
Negotiation and coalition-building
Drafting and voting on resolutions
The conference aims to provide participants with practical experience in diplomacy, negotiation, and policy analysis, while fostering dialogue among students interested in international affairs.
